Bigger injectors and a black box necessesitated the need for Bill's TC/VB upgrade.

Unfortunately since the upgrade I've had nothing but problems. First, while driving down the highway, it would jump out of OD (for a split second) for no reason. Reflash seemed to remedy this problem. OK, maybe not upgrade related.

Then it stopped downshifting into 1st/2nd at a stop sign, UNLESS you came to a full and complete stop for at least 2-3 seconds. If you "rolled" through a stop sign... forget it. It would stay in third.

Last week I replaced the govenor solenoid and switch, $200 later, nothing changed.

My latest problem is a hesitation between 2nd to 3rd gear shifts, while pulling a trailer or steep hill. (some kind of additional load).

Actually its always been there since the upgrade, buts its frequency has increased.

Best way I can describe it... is what happens when you teach someone to drive stick, and they shift going up a hill ... In between shifts, the motor is revving, because they are trying to release the clutch too slow. Hence the clutch is barely grabbing.

What really annoyes me is that my Brother in law has BD stuff in his 97' and his transmission has been bulletproof thus far. So I brag how Bill's stuff is the best... yet all I've doing is troubleshooting problems since the upgrade. Guess where my foot has been lately?

As for the installation, I had everything done professionally.

I'm open for suggestions on this one. I'm just so sick of these problems.

But I can't afford to start replacing "things" till "poof" it all works.

Why dont you call Bill K and lask him to help you figure this out. Its most likely some thing simple.

What year is your truck

Maybe you could try adjusting the kick-down cable. That would cause it to shift sooner hence lighter engine load. Otherwise, if you have a racing VB than drive it like it wants to be driven... . just give it more gas and it will shift down. Best advice yet has already been mentioned..... call Bill. I have found that with these heavy fueling boxes you don't have to give it as much gas and since the kick-down cable is controlled by throttle position the transmission doesn't realize there is as much load on the engine as there is. Hope you get it solved. Just my . 02Oo. PS. I love my DTT transOo. :) :D

I have a 98. 5 also. When DDT did my install they added a voltage regulator to set the proper voltage back to the computer. ( I think it needs to be 4. 8 vdc or so to tell the computer to let 1st gear be selected) I have had no problems at all with any gear selection. Dan

I cant tell from your signature who you are. Did you go to our installer Frans?

Give Bill a call, as with any product they can need re-adjustment and there may even be a tsb for your truck. Cable adjustments are critical and do change.

My dad cant answer you on here as he cant post. We first need to know who you are so we can pull you profile sheet and see what you have and help you. These trucks are complex to set up, he has maintained that all along. If you want a hand call us.

Bill is in the shop most of today( Sunday) if you want to talk to him.

Let me set something straight. (I feel I have too). In case anyone misunderstood my original post

My post was not intended to "knock" Bill, his hardware or his people. All associated have been great to deal with and very helpful.

My only intention was to see what everyone thought might be wrong. And maybe to vent a little :)

I will be contacting the installer this week and Bill's shop if necessary, but suspect the installer will get things straightened out.

This thing has been such a problem that I feel bad calling the installer, because its been so long and painful. I feel like everytime I call, he saying  "Oh..... Ya..... How ya doin

Anyway, thanks for the advice. I'll let you know how things work out.

mike , have you called bill or scott ?

you left out 1 important fact , i'm not trying to dog you , but you increased HP from your original spec when you called DTT and ordered your parts .

bill has preached that his VB's are not a one size fits all .

you made HP changes , the VB needs to be recaled .

have you made adjustments to the VB yourself , adjusting the TV cable or TV valve screw ?

and as far as it not downshifting till you come to a complete stop , thats the way it works , even the stock trans does that , its in the dodge programming , nothing anyone can do short of installing a full manual VB .

mike , have you called bill or scott ? Just got off the phone with Scott.

you left out 1 important fact , i'm not trying to dog you , but you increased HP from your original spec when you called DTT and ordered your parts. I'm not saying your wrong but I remember Stephan & Bill talking me into DDII's with an EZ. (Which I am thankful they did. ) And I had both installed when the transmission work was performed. Scott sold me a Comp afterwards. Of which 90% is set on level 1, 10% level 2. I never use 3-5 due to EGT's... . with my stock exhaust and turbo.

you made HP changes , the VB needs to be recaled. sounds reasonable.

have you made adjustments to the VB yourself , adjusting the TV cable or TV valve screw ? no

and as far as it not downshifting till you come to a complete stop , thats the way it works , even the stock trans does that , its in the dodge programming , nothing anyone can do short of installing a full manual VB. I know what your trying to say, but what I'm talking about didn't exist when I bought the truck... nor does it exist in any other Ram I've driven... . including yours. I'm probably not explaining it properly... its one of those things YOU'd notice right away if you drove my truck again.
