I have a question about my 1998. 5 2500. I'll be going down the road most all the time with the cruise set and the truck will just shut off. no missing, sputtering, nothing. just like you turned the key off. youv'e got to turn the ignition off for a minute or two then it will fire right back up and not miss a lick. the local dealer isn't abit of help because it doesn't do it but about 4-5 times ayear. this is hell on drivetrains when i'm loaded with 8 tons of tractors. any help will be greatly appreciated. Hard to say.......

RDeWilde,

The '98. 5 injection pumps are different and very sensitive to RF, do you have any electronic aftermarket "add ons"?? Do you have a fuel pressure guage? If so moniter it closely after driving for a while. Most folks will say the the VP 44 will die completely or not at all, but I know of a case where an early ISB would only quit if the tank was below an eighth and no fuel lubricant additive was used. After it cooled down it would restart and perform 100%. If you would tell us more about you truck, mod's, repair history etc. other TDR members may be able to help :).
