98.5 five speed trans. problem

Gentlemen--I need some help. I am having a hard time shifting into first or reverse while the engine is running. Truck has just turned 52K. It will go into either gear while stopped. Would appreciate any thoughts. ASAP I am going to the dealer Friday.

Cell # (603) 557-6080 is an option. I am in NH on a road trip.

hard shift

Likely a seizing pilot brg on the trans input shaft. . Seen this problem numerous times before. . Don`t let the dealer sell you their input shaft but ask them to look for an aftermarket shaft. .

Blue Chip Diesel in Hudson NH. I am scheduled for a 6/25 appointment. I will post the results after they finish. Thanks to those who replied.
