I have some cracks in the dash and thay are driving me insane to LOOK AT THEM. So next month im going to order the new uper portion of the dash and replaice the cracked POS I have on now. Has anyone changed the dash out how much of a pain is it and can I put some sound insulation under it while i have it apart. All I can say is thank goodness the Cummins keeps running.

They are a major PITA to pull out. If you do it by yourself it will take most of the day just to get it out:{ then another day to put the new one back in.

Man wait till you get into this job,its not easy for sure.

I tore apart a 96 CTD for a complete dash for Rammin On's sweet ride as his cracked down the middle. Its a couple of days work if all goes well and it won't trust me here. You may want to look thru a salvage yard for a complete assembly as it may make life much easier for you... ... ... Andy

Just to comment, but how is your heater core? In order to replace the heater core, you have to remove the dash. If you have alot of miles on your truck, you might consider installing a new heater core in it at the same time. it's about 50 bucks, but might save you a big headache down the road. I know, I replaced mine last fall.
