Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) `98 nv-4500 shifter tower swap?

I know that you can put a `98 shifter tower on a early model transmission,but my question is:a new tower is needed, because allmost all the used covers will not have the shifting tower attached. and does the shifter remain in the same location, no trimming of the hole?

You need the tower and shifter for the 1998-up NV4500. The floor hole will be correct. The hole in the shifter boot may be larger than needed with the new shifter. You can put a piece of pipe insulation around the shifter stalk and use electrical tape around it so the shifter stalk will be sealed to the shifter boot.
