Truck wont start...

With the drivers door open I get in the truck and turn the key, nothing.

I turn the key back and a clicking sound comes from the ignition as well as the spot where the shoulder strap seatbelt enters the seat. The seatbelt is now locked and cannot be pulled out. If I close the door and remove the key the clicking stops and the seatbelt moves freely. If I put the key back in and try to start again, nothing. Pull key back out and begins clicking with the door open. If i hit the break pedal, try to adjust my seat, or try to lock the doors the clicking stops momentarily while the seatbelt is still locked.

Fuses are all good...

I have had this problem once last week, and dont know what I did to get it going again.

Anyone have any idea what is goin on? does the truck think I am in an accident and wont let me start it?

i am dead in the water... help!

Thanks for any leads.

Sounds like either a bad battery or loose cable somewhere. The belt is supposed to do that but it sounds like when you hit the brake you are using all the current that is flowing, thus the clicking stops????? bg

i have had full power and parked the truck for about 20 min, then went to start it and leave when this happened.

There are no dash lights, no radio, and no power when this is happening. if it were the batteries, i wouldnt think that i could get it fired up like i did last week, after 15 min of screwing around? when you say bad do you mean dead batteries? or that they have gone bad?

Hello, while i'm sitting here broke down in Utah (intercooler) I thought I might offer this... . most electrial problems are GROUND related. Disconnect both batteries which clears computer, clean and check.

I did have a '99 that had a screw go thru the wire to the overhead cab brake light. It only caused problems when raining, it would get wet and go to ground causing all brake lights to stay on. It was at the sill plate that holds the carpet down on the drivers side.

Good Luck

Yeah, dead or unable to supply 12 volts anymore.

Since it happened before, I would check the cable ends at the batteries and the other end where they terminate and make sure all connections are good. bg

Took the cables off, gave them all a good cleaning and made sure the connections were up to par. IT DID THE TRICK!

thanks for the help guys! there is nothing like being stranded without your rig.

Thanks again!
