i have a 99 47re i am selling and buyer wants to make sure that it will swap into his 97 12 valve with no issues, is there anything at required for this swap?

ATS shows different part numbers for the transmissions. I don't know exactly what is different.

A major difference would be that the 47RE is electrically controlled. I believe the earlier trans were hydraulically controlled. This would involve shift points, TC lockup and unlock. Might be a big chore to get it right.

Up through 1995, the transmission was a 47RH. In 1996 (and later) 2nd generation trucks, electronic control changed the designation to 47RE. I had a 1996 V-10/47RE 3500 dually.

Sorry that I can't address specific differences between the 1997 and 1999 versions of the 47RE, but I would think there would be some based on the differing characteristics (RPM range, shift points, etc.) of the 12 versus 24 valve engines.

Should be the same transmission. The RE started in the trucks in Jan 96. The only difference may be the speedo drive in a 97. Not positive if all of 97 was switched to the ABS sensor or only part of the year. Have him check and see if he has a VSS on the trans tail shaft.
