Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 99 auto swap to a g56

I have a 99 2500 4x4 with an automatic that i am looking to swap to a g56. I have purchased a transmission/transfer case out of a wrecked 07. I have a few questions about the swap. My new transfer case is equipped with electronics rather than a lever to engage 4 wheel drive. What would be involved in keeping it electronic? If it is only a matter of buying a switch and a harness i wouldn't mind keeping it electronic. Or does it run through the powertrain control module? Or, what would be the chances of my transfer case off the automatic bolting up to the rear of the g56? My other question is, does the powertrain module need to be reprogrammed to go from an automatic to manual trans? Thanks for any help.
