Wow - a video you won't forget......

P38 was the Best Fighter of War 2 !!

One of my friends wants me to try to fix his power windows on his 99 Camaro SS. He dropped it off tonight, and I messed with it for a while and can't figure anything out.

Both windows wont work. As a bonus the passenger side is stuck down slightly. There is power going into the circuit breaker, and I switched it with the identical power seat breaker with no change. The passenger side motor makes a slight click when the button is pressed from either side. The drivers side makes a click under the dash when it is pressed, but nothing from the door or circuit breaker region.

Is there anyone familiar with F-bodies on here that could point me in the right direction to troubleshoot this? Are there wiring diagrams available online anywhere?

I know a bunch about f-bodies, but I'm not too familiar with the problem you're having. Have you checked voltage going into the window switch, or the motor itself? I wouldn't think the motors would be bad, considering both went out at the same time. I'm going to post this on one of the f-body forums I'm a part of and let you know.

I have years of experience with f-bodies, I have two myself. It sounds to me as if both the window regulator motors are shot. GM makes these as a solid-state unit, and you simply have to buy new ones. I've bought new ones in the past from Ebay that are very good quality, so I recommend going that route. GM's wiring is pretty flawless and wears like nobody else's. So I don't think your problem would be in the wiring.

From one of my cohorts at the F-Body Hideout:

Motors are burned out... if GM hadn't used such a shoddy wiring setup, it would never have happened. New motors and giving the passenger side window it's own relays will fix the problem indefinitely.
Hope this helps.

Power Window Motor

You were right! Both motors went bad about the same time. After I got the door panels off, I saw I had power at the motor connector. I swapped those bad boys both out and he is good to go.

I took it for a spirited romp after I got done... You know, um to make sure the windows were working properly.

Thanks for the help!

Oh yeah, next time, I'll watch out for the fiberglass shavings from drilling the access holes. My hand is on fire lol!
