99 diesel to 04 diesel What the difference?

I had a 1999 Dodge diesel 5 speed short wheelbase pickup and getting a 2004 Dodge dually with a 6 speed. Both trucks are two wheel drive. What power difference?Now the 04 don't make as much noise. I did take the dually for a little test drive but did not have a slide In camper on the truck and the car trailer hook to the rear. I did ordered Rancho9000 shocks with cab control and firestone air bags for the rear. I hope the dealer has the truck ready for next week. I like to dress up my trucks. I guess Its the Redneck In me. Lots of chrome, lights,Mudflaps,running boards. Sun visor?Big black sucker. :-laf

In my personal experience the stock power difference is HUGE!! You will have a big grin on your face for quite some time. The only beef I have is you run out of gear pretty quick when shifting the six speed.

You will love your new truck and wonder why it took until now to go to the 3rd gen HO truck. The power is Great and the ride is wonderful. The economy may not be as good, but who cares, if you can afford the truck, you can afford the fuel. . Good luck with the new ride! Oo.

My jump was as yours, from a '99 to an '04. I agree with both posts above, much more power stock, ride and comfort... . no comparison. On the plus side, my fuel economy is better than my '99 was by a pretty good margin. It compares to my '95 12 valve... that makes it all the better!
