I put an overhead console in my '99 ram. I bought the wiring harness and hooked it all up. The compass and temp gauges seem to work correctly. But all the other gauges like avg miileage and distance until empty dont seem to be working properly. Is there a difference in the consoles between a gas and a diesel? The console came from a gas truck, should this have anything to do with it??

Just curious. thannks for your help!

I have a 98. 5 and installed the overhead console (from eBay) as well. I seem to have the same problem. The odometer, compass and temp work fine, but fuel economy is locked on 0. 3 MPG and DTE starts at 7 miles w/ a full tank and works it's way down to 0 when empty. The unit came from a 99 diesel 2500 and seemed to have worked on that truck. I'm not sure if the console is bad or if the early PCM/ECM is transmitting the correct information on the CCD bus. Does anyone have an early 24 valve with a working trip computer? If so, is there a updated ECM/PCM calibration needed for it to work?
