Archived 99 ram trans issue

I just found out the trans is shot in my 99 2wd 3500. will a 48re bolt up in place of the stock 47re?

For the most part yes. You will have an issue with neutral safety switch, and need to change the govenor pressure sensor, out of the VB. I think the cooler fittings might be different too. Are you going to buy a new 48RE unit? Unless you already have the unit, I would contact Dave Goerend 563-778-2719. Talk to about what you want to do he can probably rebuild your 47RE and make it rock!!

thanks, I pulled the trans and it just a bearing in the tailshaft that went bad. $200 fix and the inside of the trans still looks like brand new. It's amazing what synthetic trans fluid does when you use it from the start.
