99 Ranger

Help!! Is anyone out there familiar with 1999 Ford Ranger 3. 0 V-6 Engines? I have a family member who owns one and has water coming out the tail pipe, and yes it is coolant water. Could be a head gasket, I know, but my question is could it have to do with the two small (5/16 to 1/40) water tubes going into the top of the plenem? Can that leak internally? Is it common? Ok, I went on a Ford Ranger forum and got some answers and am now playing the waiting game while the owner decides what she wants to do (family member). So my question now is, how do I remove the posts (this one and original)?
