what sencor is used for the tach on a 99. 99 has a cam sencor and a crank angle sencor. Why i am asking is because i will be going with the p-pump soon and i'm thinking about how the tach is going to work. Maybe just putting on a 12v dampner and sencor, and sending it right to the pcm and getting rid of the ecm all together is the best way to go. Thanx , Reb

The tach is driven from messages on the data bus from the PCM. If I understand you correctly, you want to get rid of the Cummins ECM. That sounds like a huge project that'll give you nothing but headaches, IMHO. What does the tach have to do with the p-pump (assuming you mean pusher pump)?

No, P7100 pump, (p-pump) 215 hp pump. I'm getting rid of the VP44. But i think the best way to get a reading may be to tap into the PCM and run a set of wires to a dampner sencor on a 12v balancer, but not sure if it may best best to leave ECM in and maybe the crank and cam sencor will work my tach. Only thing is i would have a big ol' box sticking down on the side of the motor still.
