any ideas where I can get a Horton fan clutch. Or, any other good ideas to keep the '99 from overheating hauling a 33' toyhauler that weighs 10,000 pounds up big long hills?

I am pulling a 10k+ ToyHauler with a 99 automatic 4. 11 rear, 130,000+ on the odometer, 180 t-stat. After I cleaned the gunk from the oil breather? out of the radiator fins, the fan hardly ever comes on and the needle stays pretty much centered, also I keeping the rpms over 2,000.

Ditto on cleaning the radiator fins.

I had pretty good luck spraying on a heavy coat of Gunk Foam engine cleaner and let it soak in for a few hours, respraying another coat whenever walking past. I was able to spray the garden hose from the fan side, then the other side. It even improved the AC!

We have a '99 at work that one of the sales kids was moanin about over heating, and the air would work hardly at all. Of course it was about the hottest day of the year so far and he was stuck in traffic on the freeway from a chemical spill :-laf

Just for kicks I opened the hood -- And there was the overflowing catch bottle and the front of the rad. was CAKED with grimey poo mess. I'm supprised ANY air was getting through. Thats a hell of a maintinence example to set for an eliete equipment dealership

Overheating? You likely have one of the following problems:

1. Fouled radiator (as described above)

2. Defective thermostat

3. Defective thermal fan clutch

We pull a 16K GVWR 5th wheel (see signature) in the Texas Hill Country in 100 degF plus weather and have no overheating problems.
