Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 99 truck won't smog with banks big head waste gate activator??

99 24 valve runs great smog guy said can't do it because it has a banks BIG HEAD actuator on the turbo "calif smog " ???can not find an actuator . have to buy a new turbo to to get one??? anyone have one or a source??? -- email address removed -- is this a new regulation? truck runs great, dealer said it only comes with a new turbo?? have an old one you took off for a 99 24v ?

Might be cheaper to move away from the Golden State!! A lot of the RV/motor coach folks have addresses in South Dakota and register/ buy plates there for their coaches and fifth wheel/truck combo's. Oregon used to do this also. Wyoming has a ruse that you need to own physical property here, but, that said, one can own and pay property tax in some counties fairly cheap and the wind here keeps the smog downwind in Nebraska and points East!! LOL

Or here is a non adjustable actuator for a quarter of the price. Should work just fine if all you plan to do is pass emissions with it.

Go to a different tech, it's cheaper than replacing parts. Apparently in CA there's still some disconnect in the conducting the visual inspection. In fairness to the shops, CA will swing it's mighty ax on any business with regard to emissions. So glad we got out.
