When dad finaly decided that the stock rims were to small for the tires that he wanted I started looking for bigger rims. I have found some 16x8 Eagle Alloy rims that I think might fit the bill but I am not sure. I know that the stock wheels have a 6. 25 Backspace and a -20mm offset. Now I am not sure how to do the math to figure out how far these wheels will stick out.

Style Size Pattern Offset BSM Load Price

058 16x8 8x6. 5 -11mm 4. 00 3420 118

101 16x8 8x6. 5 -20mm 3. 63 3420 129

194 16x8 8x6. 5 +2mm 4. 50 3420 139. 97

Thanks for the help

Lower than stock backspacing will cause the wheels to stick out, plus half of the difference in the width of the wheels.

6. 25 less 4. 5 equals 1. 75 inch.

If you have 6. 5 inch wheels and go to 8 inch, that's another . 75 inch for 2. 5 inch total. If you have 7. 5 inch wheels now, the total would only be 2 inch farther.

The 4. 5 inch backspace may not fit over the rear drums without having them machined down slightly. You could do it yourself with a file and lightweight oil or anyone that turns drums could turn down the outside for you.

Thanks

Thanks for the help but now dad has decided that he will just keep the rims that come stock and get 255 instead of 285. Oh well I guess this will just get put to the back of my head when I get my truck in a few months.

The stock chrome wheels on the 1999's have 4. 75" of backspacing.

There are a ton of guys running 285's on the stock 6. 5" wheel and I have only heard of a couple, out of the hundreds and probably thousands of guys on this site, that have had any issues with 285's on the stock 6. 5" wheels.

Just some food for thought.
