Just put in the gauges last weekend. After reading up on the pillar, the directions recomended "modifying" the original. No need, the cover will work fine without the original even there. Save your money, just take it out and save it and your money.

The pillar sat in there fine but I used one unnoticible screw to hold secure. I have pics if anyone is looking to do the same install and are unsure about this pod.

I did the same thing. Mine is a full replacement now. I think it yields a nice, clean install and you still have the old pillar if you remove the gauges for any reason (selling the truck, etc... )

Aren't the gauges really hard to read, being mounted on the A-arm and all? (Sorry, I guess it's just a 2 wheel drive thing!) ;)

Rusty,

I thought the same thing but just let someone else bring it up. Man, there is no mercy around here.

BTW, better check your muffler bearing and headlight fluid before winter! Change the air in your tires, also!

Silverbullet, about how long does it take to do 3 gauge A-pillar install. Just trying to find out in case I have to drive little d-50 ram to work. I have boost, egt,& fuel pressure to install and only full day I can work on project is on a sunday. Thanks for any info or tips that you can help with :)

I just got my gauge pod and gauges from e-bay. They were EGT, Boost, Fuel pressure for $285. That was the best deal I have found and I have been looking fir quite some time. Got them within a week of him getting my check... . quick service. They are made by Hewitt Industries, look like good quality gauges. Came with good instructions. I painted my pillar pod to match the Agate interior. Got the paint from the local Napa dealer, listed in his Dupont book in the interior colors section. It is a vinyl based paint, so it took to the plastic very well. All the gauges are mechanical. Fuel pressure comes with the isolator so there is no worry of fuel ever getting in the cab. As for how long the install took... ..... I did mine in an evening after work, came home, found I had a parcel, opened box, painted pillar with 3 coats, had dinner, went to the shop, did the install, including lites on the dimmer switch, and was home by 10:00 pm..... took about 3 hours in the shop. Only thing I had to change was the lites were BRITE white, and my dash lighting is green, so I went back to Napa the next day and got the Green lite condoms..... I put 2 condoms on each lite to get the right green lite effect(should be safe now;) )
