I know many of us have suffered from faulty fuel sending units. I got to thinking about finding a better solution to a needle that reads "F", "1/2" and "E. " I came up with the idea of using a resettable fuel flow meter instead. I've found this unit,

While the cost is VERY prohibitive, I was wondering if anybody had installed such a system in their truck. It would seem that we could keep track of fuel usage much more accurately with this setup. Fuel up, set the gauge to countdown from 30 gallons (5 gallon reserve!) and we would know exactly how much fuel is left! The idea started from a product I saw on a marine website. Those units include GPH, total hours, gallons used and some even include RPM. Might be an even better option. Sorry for the long winded post... ... .

I've thought of doing this also, until I've seen the prices. I'm going to wait till the Chinese copy one and offer it for $29. 95,there is accually less electronics involved than in a hand held calculator.
