Ever sense I changed my transmission mounts I have a Hum in the cab whenever I pull more than 10psi boost. They are Dodge parts. There has got to be a better way. Has anyone ever put a second gen (perish the thought) trans mount in a first gen?

These stupid little rubber biscuits just don't isolate the harmonics. I've tried running them loose, extra rubber, less rubber, glued in a third rubber in the middle, kicked it, kissed it, gonna shoot it.

I mean, if I wanted a hummer, I would buy one or go see Clinton.

I am running a 2nd Gen trans mount on a custom crossmember. I still had a "noise" coming from the trans area whenever I got on it. Turned out the trans was rotating enough to actually touch the cab where the shifter comes through the floor. Fixed it by making hole bigger:D

I think it probably had more to do with the motor mounts than the transmission, Dodge used basically the same mounts for the gas engines in these trucks, and the are pretty puny.

Hi Dave

I am also using a 2nd Gen trans mount on a custom cross member and it works just fine. I do run the NV4500HD. I think you could use the 2nd gen mount just by drilling a couple of holes in your current cross member. It is a 2 piece part - if you want I can digout the part numbers and prices. Just let me know.

After you guys installed the new mount, did you notice any improvement in sound and vibration reduction? Vibration isn't a problem, it the HUM I get when pulling.

But thanks for the replys.

I never heard any unusual noise until Rip put the 4 inch exhaust on. :D :D I get a little harmonic noise at 60 mph give or take a couple of mph but since I rarely drive at that speed it doesn't bother me. Come to think of it I don't really notice it at all anymore. Hope this helps.

Might look elsewhere..........

Actually, the 2nd gens exhaust system is hung on the trans mount, with only a little rubber isolator bushing. I doubt your hum is coming from the trans mounts, or through the trans mounts, as the case may be. I had a terrible racket coming from the transfer case shifter, which I finally deadened by welding a support to the shifter bracket that bolts to the top of the transmission. If you are running a straight exhaust, it might be the infamous "drone" some have spoken of here. I stuck a 4" walker muffler on mine 1/2 way to the back, 3-1/2" straight sounded cool, but got annoying after about 50 miles. I also got a roll of that foil-backed insulation and carpeted the floor under my vinyl mats, which dampened the noise a bit.

What's kinda wierd is that it became noticeable after you replaced them?????

BTW, I'de rather go see Monica instead of Bill for a Hummer:p
