I got to visit the Diesels in December rally at Pahrump for a short period of time. I was there at 9:00 AM, and got to meet a number of you active posters, and some who don't post much.
Special note... richm, nice to meet ya!
Unfortunately, the dyno runs were delayed a while, and I had to take care of some truck business. I went to the local Big O tire store to locate the source of bad shake in my truck, only to find that I have NO tires that are round! New tire time...
When I got back, they had finally gotten the dyno running, after a lot of work and warming up, and I got to see some pretty impressive trucks run. Even on a dyno jet, with it's relatively short burst, the sound is amazing. For those of you who've never experienced it, hearing a Cummins pulling in excess of 500 HP up close is almost scary.
For those of you who heard Joe Donnelly's explanation about Sickly's performance, I have the real scoop for you. Back at the restaurant, Joe was wowing an audience with tales of massive boost, horsepower, and airflow. So, I penalized him 50HP for making excessively long postings about exhaust systems and airflow in multiple forums
I'm not sure why he didn't admit to this at dyno time, but I figured the rest of you should know
The men running the dyno were most patient, and did their best to get as much done as possible, and so a big
YAY FOR THE GOOD GUYS
to the patient operators who had to stand out in the cold wind without complaining.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to run my truck, as I left at noon, after getting back from the tire place at about 10:45, and I got to sign up at 11:00, but there were a lot of people in line in front of me then, and they took a break at noon to eat, thaw out the dyno operators, and other assorted activities
I wish to commend the organizers for a great job, and for taking care of the wives... Rick Peet Dodge provided the lounge for the patient wives to stay warm and associate in while the guys were outside watching the smoke shows in the Dyno.
Special Note: Events will be better attended if they have activities or at least accomodations for the wives and other family members.
Thanks to all of you...
