I have 06 mega A/C never blew that hard to begin with, but I just took a trip where I became a passenger in my owe truck, and with the A/C set to blow out the vents it still had really cold air blowing out on the floor board by my feet. Dont know how long this has been going on, but is this common? I was under the impression that all the air should be moving thought the vents on the dash? It did not matter if it was on recir. or bringing in new air. Guess what I am asking is there a problem? Also do these trucks have and A/C filter?

Thanks

Just removed my dash and cut out the screen that sends air to the back vents. I am very pleased with the results, now the back doesn't blow hardly at all but how much is two vents on the floor really doing anyway? I would recommend this to anyone. I was ready to get a new truck cause I was tired of sweating glad I didn't lol. You have to remove the whole dash I found a post that helped me a lot I thank the guy that took all the time great post am pics. Alothough it is a quad cab post the megas are really close think the only difference was no ac bolt to the dash. Anyway here's the post. https://www.turbodieselregister.com...discussions/166129-hvac-removal-pictures.html

My truck would not blow out of the dash vents... all the other vents would blow when I turned the dial switch to the specific vents but the most important ones for me... the dash vents would not blow much at all. The air was cold and the fan made a ton of noise but no flow... UNTIL last night when I took the glove box out and stuck my hand up into the cavity that holds what I would assume to be the recirc door. I felt something loose up there so I cut the plastic grill out and lo and behold the whole recirc door was just flipping around in there so I pulled it out. It was not even connected and it looks like the edge where the motor attached is completely broken! Now that its out... OH BABY! I have flow again! In AZ where it's only 113 today... just in time. The rear vents blow like crazy too so I don'k know why you would cut the flow back there. If the system's doors are not malfunctioning or broken, it should blow sufficient air to the back of the cab to be comfortable.

Now, I do want a funtional recirc door replaced but how much would/should that cost to have replaced?

My doors are working fine. Most of the time there is no one in the back of my truck, and if you lived in southwest Louisiana you wouldn't want to ride around sweating I promise you that. These trucks have an AC system that is not exactly up to par. I was sharing my experience with people who want to get more out of there front vents and don't care about lossing some flow to the rear.

No, I completely understand! Arizona gets kida hot as well but the air coming from the dash vents is pretty strong once the obstructions are removed. That's all. I can understand wanting full power up front if you never have passengers back there. I do carry kids and associates back there so air flow is needed back there.
