I have a 04 1/2 3500 single rear wheel 4x4 short box 5. 9cummins w/6speed. The problem is that my wife complains to me about her side is not blowing cold air out of the dash vents. I tell her my side is cold and it is. I finally reached over to feel her side and sure enough it is not very cold when my side is blowing nice cold air. It does not matter if I have it on recirc. or regular. When it is on recirc. the air coming out on the floor on my side and her side feels like the same temperature as she is getting out of her side of the dash. She said at times she can feel the air get cold but just for a second or two. I started to pay more attention and I think it may get colder for a second only when I am taking off and giving it more throttle or turning a corner at slow speeds and speeding up. This truck does not have duel air. Basically I have two vents on my side in the dash that is cooling the whole cab. Has anybody ever experienced this problem and if so what is wrong and how do I fix it? :-{}

i just had same problem. recharged r123 (no leek sealer). stayed in the green on my gauge and solved the warmer air out passenger side

I had a similar problem, with the fan all the way up it hardly would move any air. Granted the driver side will typically be 7-8 deg colder than the passenger side because of air flow. I was ready to start tearing my dash apart to look for a broken blend door, and ran out of time. I decided to take it to the dealer and they performed an HVAC door motor calibration on the entire system. I thought they were full of s#$t but its been working great ever since and it only cost me $89. I guess I would give that a try first.

BMeier,

Could you find out what the dealer actually did??? They want to charge me $495 to fix the blend door problem. Maybe a recalibration is what needs to happen?? I had the compressor changed out and the system is blowing cold but I get very little airflow. Lots of noise but low flow. I can turn the vent knob and the defrost wil work and the floor vents will work but turn it to the cabin vents and the flow goes somewhere but I can't find out where.

Same problem with my '4.5

I have the same thing and believe I have an intermittently binding mix door. If I move the temperature knob to full heat, wait a few seconds and then move it back to full cold, it will usually fix the problem. I think that letting the door travel the entire distance frees it up just enough so that it can get all the way to end of travel on the cool direction.

Anyhow, when the truck was new and I took it to the dealer under warranty for this problem, their mechanic claimed it was a vacuum leak causing the problem. I'm pretty sure the vacuum was elimated some time before '04. My problem has always been intermittent but I guess one of these days I'm going to get to pull the dash and figure out a way to fix it.

Did anyone know about what the "recalibration" fix?
