2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission A/C Clutch failure

We have four trucks- two 98 12 valvers and two 96's. All four have failing clutchs. The flat springs break clean through, 3 of the trucks have only broken one so far, one 98 has broken two...



I've searched, seems others have had this problem before, but I couldn't find any posts with specific part numbers. Anyone care to share a p/n and source? I've searched Oreilly, advance, autozone, napa and tried carquest online as well. no luck Don't really want to go to the dealer unless its absolutely necessary...

I had to replace my a/c clutch on my '96 at about 400k. Picked up the clutch at a commercial a/c parts house. Just brought in my #'s off the original a/c compressor. Installed the new one without removing the compressor off the truck. Hope this helps.

I just had the same problem call this Number 972-723-0112 I cant say enough for there service GREAT, techchoiceparts, Midlothian TX Greg is the parts person that I called. I was quoted 200+ at two different parts stores . I got the parts the next day at my house a couple of hundred miles West. I payed 70 dollors for a complete clutch assembly . Greg was very friendly and did not give my wife a hard time on the phone, she was very impressed also good luck Jim K

My A/C clutch "grenaded" last year at 110k and took out the seal on the pump also. $480 for both from the DC dealer and that was installed and charged.

I could have just bought just the broken part but I wonted to replace the bearing also so I replaced the entire clutch asslembly. I conplete compressor was not much more than what was quoted from Autozone jimk
