A/C compressor noise

Heard it for the 1st time today when starting truck in the A. M.

what it was when I turned the compressor on and the clutch engaged it made a very loud thunk sound, anyone else heard of this?

Mine just started doing that too. It sounds as if the compressor seized for a second... Is it common or normal..... ?????

My 03 did it more than the one I got now but I had more miles on it. Its been talked about on here some. Long as it works I don't worry about it. Normal

Same here. My '03 did it worse than the '04. Seems to be common, but it will scare the hell out of you. Just another inherent problem.

Yep, my '03 does it. My '00 GMC Jimmy does it too so it's not limited to Dodge!

I forward the motion... . pretty much every truck I have owned does it. . Mine usually does it the first time you turn it on when it is cold... Doesn't seem to do it once the motor is warmed up!

Yep, mine does it too. Normal for these trucks. As long as it cools, don't sweat it. Uh, never mind the pun. Not intended.
