anyone know of a kit out there to rebuild an A/C compressor on a 2000 CTD. My buddy's dad wants to rebuild his rather than buy a new one.

Save yourself some time and money buy a new/reman compressor w/ clutch and just swap them out. If you try and rebuild the parts will cost you more(if you can find them) than a reman/ new compressor and clutch itself not to mention if something should go wrong and you have to take it in to a shop.

I agree with DShuart as far as the reman goes. You will be money ahead, because to rebuild these newer compressors costs more to us than to the large rebuild companies and its hard to get them to seal up again without special tools that they have. I would strongly recommend changing your receiver dryer and having the entire system flushed. This will help keep your new compressor to last as long as possible. Also make sure you have plenty of air going through your condensor.
