A/C compressor won't come on

I've got a 2006 3500 DRW 5. 9 with A/C problems.

We have evac the system, changed the accumulator, orifice tube, and the pressure switch, recharged the system. The compressor will turn for a short time but will not "kick in"

Is there another switch or relay or something. We have checked the fuse box under the hood.

It sure is hot here in Abilene, Texas. Any ideas?

Check for P0483 fan clutch code.

You can cycle the key and see if the code appears in the odometer display.....

Also, you say you evacuated the system, recharged it, did you get the full charge in it?

You say the compressor will turn for a short time but won't "kick in". Is the clutch plate dragging enough to turn the compressor untill it starts to build pressure or is the clutch trying to engage but is defective and don't engage enough to keep turning the compressor? What were the problems leading up to the repairs/replacements? Is the blower motor operating? bg

Clutch failure is Very common on the 06 Check to see if you have power and ground at the clutch
