A/C crunch noise...

I have not drove my truck for a couple of days, it's been close to 100-degrees the past 5-days here in So. CA. When I went to start the truck late this morning, it made a 'chunck- sound' and I felt a jolt, it was very similar to an automatic transmission going 'hard' into gear.

Anyone have the same experience? Thanks in advance for any insight

Just to clarify: The noise happened when I turned the A/C on!

I don't "hear" my compressor kick in, unless I'm under the hood with engine running. A bit of a "click" then. And with the new refrigerant in, the clutch no longer cycles on/off. If by chance you managed to turn on the a/c and put it into drive @ the same time you likely heard the diff. gears clatter as they take up the lash.
