Now that we all need our AC, what are the problems that being found? In searching all of the post I have not run across any central cause. Lets do a pole and compair notes to fix this problem once and for all. After all, it seems that most of our systems are not working!!!

I haven't considered the A/C system to be a common problem on the Rams, I've owned 5 of them and haven't had any problems. They are weak on the engineering side though, seem to struggle to keep things cool when it gets really hot. My '03 was the worst in that category.

AC would be nice today. Had to drive around Tri-Cities with it being 96F in my backup rig which has no AC. Starter is dead on the '96 and the '98 is loaned out, so I guess you could say the problem with my AC is the dead starter :-laf

Most of the problem is dried out seals and o-rings in the system from lack of use. Most of these trucks kick on the A/C when the defrost is on, but you should turn the A/C on at least once a month to circulate the system properly. The seals around the compressor are usually the weakest.

Mine wasnt engaging the compressor clutch with the AC turned on, I just wiggled the connector a bit and it came back to life. My guess is the switch inside the evaporator bottle is bad. Probably needs to be purged and recharged after that too =(
