FASS return spring/pressure, help?

A/C wasn't quite cooling, so checked it with a gage and added some. Working fine up till sunday, worked in the morning then on the way home from a archery shoot, I turned it on and just luke warm air, checked the low side with a gage and a little low added some but same results. Compressor is turning, any thoughts, its hot and muggy here.

i'm watching this one, too. my a/c worked great til last october when i quit using it for the season, but hasn't worked well this year. few degrees cooler and i can hear the compressor kick on, but i'm gonna have to check it

Yep, I'm in the same club... . Worked last year, turned it on this year and luke warm air. . I added refrigent and it worked great for awhile but its warm again.

what is your pressure on the high side? what is the low side? is the compressor running or just cycling on off on off?

what is the ambiant temp?what is the temp at the dash?

-robert

I didn't check the high side yet, I checked the low side with a gage it read 45-55, ambient temp was 88,the compressor was running and after I installed some freon it started cycling, temp at the dash is warm to the hand.

dodges are bad for evaporators going bad. done 2 of them myself so far. had to put a little refrigerant in mine this year also. but mine will freeze you right out of the cab now.

if the compressor is running and the pressure is equal then the compressor is bad.

if you have no pressure at all ( no reading on gauge) then I would guess the system has no freon?

guess i got lucky! mine held a vacuum for 15 minutes, recharged and it's cold as ever. PHEW!!! $85 and I'm chillin'

I found out one of the reasons the evaporator goes is because at the factory the install it with foam attached to the bottom of it and when it sweats or drains the foam is saturated and just stays there and eventually cause the evaporator eventually rusts thru.

I found a wierd leak on mine, The hardline from the low side port that goes to the flex line which is covered with a silver insulator..... Right at the connector under the end of the insulator,, I saw it bubbling. The crimp connector right at the hardline was leaking..... I just used a little J-B Weld on the joint and let set and recharged. So far for several weeks, it still shoots 40 deg air out the vents... .
