Started this weekend, Air blows hot, hit the comp. button and it works. Tonight did the same thing it worked once then when i shut it off and cranked it up this last time it didn't work. When I got home i put the gauges on it and it is charged but the comp. is not engaging. If I hit the comp. on button it will engage and disengage 2 or 3 times for a split second and then nothing until I hit the button again. Any Ideas? I was a member for years and just rejoined tonight.

If the compressor is not staying on, how do you know it is charged properly? Did you jumper the compressor while reading the gauges?

Check the resistor block for the fan speeds, if it loses continuity the compressor won't run. Try putting the fan in a higher speed and see if that works, if so it's probably the resistor. It is located under the A/C housing beneath the glove box. bg

Sounds like a low charge. When the compressor comes on, it will drop the pressure in the suction line, if it is low enough, the low side switch will open, shutting off the compressor. Compressor stops, pressure equalizes in the system, switch closes, compressor comes back on, and it starts all over again.
