Ok, not necessarily an A/C problem (a/c works fine), but got done loading the horses up after a show today, hopped in the truck, and now I can only get air out of the defrost and floor vents, recirc seems to work, but I can hear a slight vacuum leak at or around the control head suddenly, but only on recirculate. Where should I begin my troubleshooting? Compressor still comes on with defrost etc, but the dash vents no longer function. Sound like an actuator problem? Control head?

BTW, truck is a 97 SLT laramie 4x4, cruise, CAD etc all work, the bulk of the vaccuum system seems to be fine still

Thanks!

Will, sounds like the rubber on the back vacuum switch is leaking. I had mine out last summer to fix a similar problem... I put some white grease on the rubber and it worked like new.

and if thats not it the black hose(on mine) was the vacuum source if that helps any

ps how ya bin have'nt heard from ya in awhileOo.

Chris

Defrost and floor vents are default outlets when there is a vacuum problem.

When you put it recirculation mode where does the air come out of?

Check for vacuum leak at control switch or vacuum lines under dash.

Thanks for the replies guys, especially you Chris! I've been busier than anything, we have dead VT365s piling up... headed to bed for the evening, thanks again for the replies guys

I had to replace the actuator just above the throttle pedal because the diaphram in it failed. To check it start the truck, select dash, then push the lever up. If it won't stay then it is bad. Be VERY careful when removing it. The plastic arm it attaches to is brittle.
