My A/C used to work when I put 134A into it but it got to where it would not hold a charge for very long. I took it to a mechanic and he said it was the evaporator and it would be 500 dollars to fix it. I got it home and it worked around town but when I got on the interstate running high RPM's the A/C didn't work at all. So I took it back to him and he put another 1/2 can of refrigerant and said he must have undercharged it. I took it home and drove it for a couple of days then the system would work sometimes and not others. I took it back to him and he said it was low on refrigerant and he thought it was leaking at the high pressure switch so he replaced it and charged me 90. 00 dollars. When I first got it back the A/C would work sometimes and not at all others times but now it works about everytime I turn the truck on but the lowest the truck temperature gets down to is 58 degrees on a 85 degree day. Is this acceptable and if not what do you all think, please help thanks?

That's a 27 degree drop, not great but it's doing something. What is the humidity? (fill in your location in your sig) If it's too high you might need to use recirculate to keep from frosting up the evaporator. This might also kind of explain why it works better at low speed than at high speed.

Are you measureing the air temp at the vent or the ambient temp of the interior? (it should be the temp at the vent) What does the discharge get down to when it's on recirc?

I live in Kentucky where it is pretty humid. I used recirculate when I took the temperatures. If I use regular a/c it gets down to about 63 on an 85 degree day. Any ideas on what could be the problem. Any ideas of what it could be would be greatly appreciated. The coming week is going to be in the 90's and humid.

Hi Booker I live in so. Nevada it get's dam hot 118 my a/c cools down to 40! So don't belive all that B@#^%$#t , mine done the samething I charge it myself what happened I got to much in it, this is ez to do. By U a cheep gage put it on your self and see what it reads.
