Greeting's folks, a few days ago, I went out to the truck, and get the AC going (it was about 90 and real humid). I started the rig, and went in the house to get something, and went I got in the truck, no cold air, and the compressor was clicking on and off every few seconds...

Started driving the truck and the AC came on, and worked well all day... I have not had the problem since.

By the way the AC was on recirculate...

Is this something I should worry about, possibly a coming problem ?:(

Mine did that about 2 months ago. Took it in and they found that it was 1/2 lb low on R134. They couldn't find an obvious leak, so they put a dye in it and "topped it off". Its been OK now for the last 2 months. If there is a leak, it will hopefully show up with the dye.

Take a real close look at the operation of your fan clutch and the cleanliness of your condensor. I suspect that your system is cycling off because of high pressure due to restricted or low air flow. These symptoms will go away when the truck is moving down the road.

Try squirting a little water on the condensor when this problem occurs and see if the AC starts to work. If that brings the compressor back on, then it is highly likely that the high pressure switch was open.

I had the same problem myself, and it turned out to be a defective fan clutch. Strange thing was, that my engine temperature was fine, it only affected the AC system.

scotmartin: I hear the fan alot at low rmps, when it's hot... sounds like a jet... The A?C has been fine since... There are no air flow restrictions that I can see... I guess if it happens again I will get it in to the dealer...
