A/C working intermittently? Starts out cold!

Hi, My 96 2500 A/C seems to work ok when first started then it will start to gradually blow warm air then if I am lucky cool air again. This started all of a sudden last week. I notice I do not hear the compressor clicking on and off at all. Any Ideas? Compressor? Thanks for any suggestions!

Check your under hood vacuum lines, especially along the firewall. Mice and Rats can chew them in half.

I dont hear it clicking on and off at all and usually its pretty easy to hear and also see a dip in rpms when it cycles on and off.

Sounds like low on Freon.
Have you had the system checked from an ac service?

A couple free things to check and will probably improve your ac when it does work would be to make sure the drain for the evaporator is not plugged and remove the blower and look in at the evaporator to see how dirty it is. It makes a mess but you can flush them out with a water hose and nozzle. That could be causing it to freeze up and quit working.
