I left school early today to some to my local Ford dealer. They had a decent looking 97 reg. cab, 4x4, 5 speed on their lot. And wouldn't you freakin' know it. They sold it yesterday for $7500. I'm no expert but 7500 for a 97 with 189000 didn't sound like none too bad of a deal to me. So the search continues... .

7500 hundred for a boat anchor is a little much. With 189k on it it is really suspect. My 95 with 98k on it had the transmission rebuilt twice before I got it and after 14k miles, there is a "C" clip on the input shaft that came off and cut the input shaft in half. E4OD POS. Remember, 96 percent of the fords ever built are still on the road, the other 4 percent actually made it home. :-laf The one thing I really did like was the cab with the 4 doors. Liked the room it afforded.

dont tell me you were looking at a powerstroke. if so the truck aint worth it.

my uncle bought his brother inlaws 96 and it had 155k on it. the bro inlaw bought and 01 so cummins. he said that eveyone makes mistakes and that was his. he also said the truck nickle and dimed him to death on repairs.

in the last year the truck ahs gone 10k, has been brokedown about 4 times and needs a transmission(5spd). just wanted to leave you with that

Oops, I assumed that you were in the market for a furd. Disregard my previous post. (But it still is a boat anchor. ) :-laf

i knew that. i was just in such a panic over the though of a fellow member running a ford that instincs kicked in a i had to say something.

sound like a hell of a deal. then again i dont think a dealership would let it go that cheap unless they knew something was wrong with it. picture this, guy buys truck, truck is nothing but problems, guy comes back, dealer says "we could take the rig in on trade and put you in a more dependable ford". makes a sale and makes the ctd look bad to another misinformed person.

i think im gonna start selling CTD's and keep some fords around so people can buy them then relize they want a cummins. im gonna be rich :D

Don't feel bad. I just missed a 95 regular cab 2wd for 2500... ... ..... I already had the bombs and mods going throuh my mind. .

As far as the truck being junk, it very well could have been. What I am thinking is they were selling it cheap to make it look like Dodges ain't worth a darn. It's alot like buying tools, the best place to buy Mac Tools is from the Snap on man, cuz he'll sell them cheap to make you think how cheap and crappy they are. I can't deny that I haven't wanted a Powerstroke. I'd definitely rather have a Cummins, but they are pretty hard to come by around here.
