I was driving down from Seattle and stopped to get a bite to eat when I noticed a lot of oil under the truck. I noticed it under the real fenders, on the springs, everyplace - not a lot. but auto transmission oil. Lucky for me I was in Centralia, and quickly went over to Campbell's Dodge-Jeep. Now this is 6:00 PM. Kim Riffe, the service manager, looked at the rig, checked the transmission fluid and the transfer case oil - all up to correct level. The output shafts were dry. He put it up on a hoist and it looked like it was coming not out where the transfer case attached to the tranmission! He sprayed cleaner on this spot and I drove it 5 miles and we looked at it again - a small leak fron that spot, or at the top of where the transmission attaches to the transfer case. Now he told me that the transfer case uses auto transmission fluid. Is that true? Has anybody had this problem? Any guess on teh cost for fixing at teh dealer?
