Hello all!

I just returned from muffler shop, I was forced into deleting my muffler:D, I now have the stock 3. 5 inch downpipe, to the 4 inch at the turn (by trans) then straight back, my comments are such:

Too darn loud for daily use, and terrible flutter... But thats old news,

What I need know is what is the best muffler to splice in my straight section of 4 inch pipe:

I am looking for a nice growl/honk at full stomp, but easy on the half throttle times, and deep would be better

SECOND THING: what does everyone think about mounting my guages in autometer mounting Cups like on race cars?, in the very front of the dash against the windshield?

I ran one of these on my 01 and really liked it. It quieted it down just enough that it wasn't obnoxious, but sounded good when it was being stood on or when running under and underpass. :D

ok, just to confirm,

good honk at full tilt, but easy on the ears at 50% or so pedal?

and NO FLUTTER? ,thanks that is what I need, now If I can get a good price on one, ($175 for just muffler?, seems high compared to other straight-thru mufflers)

thanks!

Tomeygun,

lmills truck is the one I heard on the dyno at the Fall Brawl. It does sound good. And not obnoxious. Still haven't heard an AT yet. (AeroTurbine). I have been told to check out a system by MassDiesel by the NETDP guys. I just may do that, when I am in their neck of the woods with the truck.

did you hear his 01 or 03 model?

He heard my 03. The 01 was sold about 2 weeks before the event. I am definitely going to go with the same muffler on this one also. The price was right, the sound was good and the price was even better

ok , I think for the price, this is the way to go, do you think I should mount it close to the downpipe, or in factory location?

And what does the inside look like? is it louvered, or poreferated (or however you spell it):p

Thanks for the input, heck, for the $36, I can change my mind, but the AT, woah! $195

Tomeygun... if you do your gauges like that, please post pics... that is also where I want mine, don't want to lose my grab handle, and in the cubbyhole is just a bit too low... thanks!

I put mine in the factory position. Also, the inside is perforated.

Yes, yes, and yes. And yes, they are a little pricey. However, they are Stainless Steel and shiny. :D I got the 4" kit that reuses your stock tail pipe. I think it is about $400 including the muffler. I don't think that is to bad for a 4" kit. Oh and it did greatly decrease my EGT's. What I have been told about perforated style mufflers on 03's is that they kind of hiss. Again just what I have heard. I am not an expert.

thanks all for the input on both subjects,

you have given me enough reason to go with the gauges on the front dash in the Cup-style racecar-style look, with a fancy braided line to go from back of cup/meter through the dash plate,

I will surely post pics when done, (talk about an easy install)

and one last question:

For the nice bark at full tilt AND the best EGT reduction, which one??

Dynomax (from SUMMIT racing) - $35

OR

DPP muffler from a friends 4 inch system that he didn't use- $40

Tough huh?

thanks for the input

update on the gauge install:

easy!! and I think i like it... the location is temperary. so it is zip tied, I will move it to the left later, and add the egt gauge, what do you guys think with the results?

it hides under the wiper from the front
