My 98. 5' 24v just hit 20k on the odo. This is the mark where I decided to switch from Valvoline's petroleum 15w-40 to AMSOIL's Series 3000 5w-30 Synthetic oil with a filter relocation kit and by-pass filter system.

WELL, First time out, two things presented themselves. First, the oil pressure gauge sticks around the 12 o'clock position (60psi?) rather than usual 1 or 2 o'clock. I'm not sure what this means good or bad.
Secondly, The turbo noticably spooled quicker
and the motor itself seems more "free", which has made the truck seem more responsive. But for the sake of not sounding like an idiot. . I said nothing to no-one. Especially because I've done this in the past to other vehicles, which showed no similar signs other than a slight drop on the temp gauge.
WELL... my father needed my truck to pick up a few supplies. First comment he made upon his return "What did you do to the truck?" Ummmm... nothing I said. "Well it alot more responsive and feels more powerful. " he said. Humm. . whats going on here! A second person without mention of what DID change. . has noticed the same thing. Maybe we're both crazy. Anyway, What do you guys think? Especially guys who have been down this road.
I'm not trying to start the whole 5w-30 vs. 15w-40 debate. I simply don't know what to think of this whole thing.

98' 24v 2500 Auto/3. 54 4x4 SB QC. Everything but leather. AMSOIL oil filter relocation kit w/secondary by-pass unit,Smittybuilt Stainless Steel Nerfs, Rhino Liner, K&N. Somehow lost my silencer Ring.
Still wishin I could put my M3's mile deep paint job on the truck. Or maybe I should wish to swap its perfectly engineered automatic. Or maybe... . Ah heck, Just wish BMW would start makin a truck using the ISB!
