A few guage questions

Hello Guys, another new guy here.

I have a couple of questions about guages for my new truck. What brand are you using and would you buy them again? I can't decide what brand to go with, but have decided to go with the triple A pillar mount with pyro, boost, and trans temp.

Who has the best prices?

Thanks

Mark

hello,

i have Auto-Meter Phantom series and i LOVE them, however they only make a 0-35 boost guage in the Phantom series and i make about 40#'s boost. ii would still buy them again! just something to consider. i bought them from Geno's. they have a wide variety of guages and some of the best prices i could find anywhere. i highly recommend taking a look at their options. hope this helps,

they also have comparable prices on the pillar and different mounts.

Autometer Z-series

No problems, and yes I would buy them again.

BTW my total cost for 2-gauge pillar with speaker pod, Boost gauge, Pyro & probe kit: $285. 00

I have Autometer Phantoms for my transmission temp and pyro. Westach for fuel pressure. I really like the phantoms, the westach looks a little cheap but works great.

Talked with a guy last night that saw some new Autometers on E-bay. I think he said they were around $30. 00, didn't ask what they were.

I'd buy them again,

I'm using the Isspro EV series gauges.

Easy to read, accurate, fast responding, and well lit at night.

I got mine from Andy at Smokindiesel.com

Ther nice, I purchase the set again.

I like the looks of my Autometer Z-series. Had some fogging problems that required the gauges to be replaced. Went with the Westach fuel pressure for price.

Thanks for the info.

I think I will go with the Autometer Z series to try to match the background color of my factory guages. Looks like Geno's has the best prices I can find on the guages and mount.

I don't do alot of towing with the truck right now,do you think I would be better off putting a fuel pressere guage in the mounting pod than a transmission temp guage? How will the westach guage look with the Z series guages? I would like to try to keep the guages looking like the same style.

I would advise putting the transmission temp gauge on the pod. When you do tow, you need to look at it frequently. I only check my FP gauge periodically.

BTW, I use a digital Nordskog FP gauge that I mounted ion a generic cup on my shifter console. I bought it from Summit Racing. Gauge, Sender & Cup total cost ~$85. 00. I like it. It will store highs and lows too.

That makes sense, what is the best sensor to uses for the trans temp guage? I don't really want to pull the pan to install one there. I seem to remember somewhere you could get one that you install in the line going to the cooler. Otherwise it looks like the dipstick type would work also.

Any more advice from anyone here?

Thanks again for all of the great info.

Mark, get a transmission line for a 94 ram. It has a port for a sender built in. Sorry but I don't have a part number but Geno's should know what your talking about. Putting it in the hot line is by far the best place as that is measuring the temp before the cooler, not after.
