I've spoke with many of people about my turbo, and everyone says the HY35 was only used on 2000-2002 automatic trucks. When i bought my truck, it was bone stock, [atleast i thought] but when i installed my Edge comp, directions said Hx35 boost fitting. My truck has the rubber line [not metal] from wastegate dump. So what is this thing. All i know is i have a 35 lbs. boost gauge and when i hammer the pedal, it looks like a hula dancer. The needle buries to the pin and jumps up and down really fast, Oo. and when towing 7500 lbs. i can go up any hill without losing a rpm. Anyone else out there with this mystery turbo. ALSO: How do you guys get the truck info on the bottom of the thread?

Hi 724. About your turbo. If it has a rubber hose that operates the W/G pot, its probably an HX. But to be sure, read the tag on the compressor housing. The info is there. If not, Check how the exhaust housing attaches to the shaft housing. If by circlip, its an HY. If by 4- 5/16" bolts and small flat plates, its an HX.

To ad all your info to your posts ect. Go to first time help and FAQs. Lots of stuff there.

That is a puzzle. Could it be that you got an HY comp housing on an HX. I think they are changable. Could be wrong. Any way, that is the kind of stuff that happens to me all the time. I always get the ******* one off gizmo that nobodys ever seen. Best of luck.

my guess would be the stocker hx35 bite the dust and the hy35 was an inexpensive turbo to put back on.

quicker spool to boot.

oh well life is short time to move on and leave the past behind :-laf

i have the hy on my 01 i always read 21 for stock but mine would run 27 or 28 bone stock and after i put my box on i can get it to 42 or 43. i bought it used and talked to the guy that owned it before he said he never touched the truck in any way to modify it i think the wastegate has been adjusted but dont know who did it. i do know it comes off the line like a rocket but gets warm on top end thats why i moved to an hx. just my 2 cents worth.

I have an '02 6-speed with the HX35 and I have the rubber hose from the little elbow on the front of the turbo to the WG actuator. The exhaust elbow bolts to the turbo????? I always thought this was "Normal" Is this an oddball also???

boost elbow

The boost elbow threads into the front of the housing like you're talking about. Doesn't sound oddballish to me. I couldn't get past 20 psi with the stock ecm and no boost elbow - will get 30 psi easily, no load after the CaTCHer.

From what i've learned, the HX35 have the rubber hose, but the HY35 has a metal line, that is why i posted, mine is HY35 with rubber line
