A little more assistance with P0073 needed.

Last day of our trip i see the alt is not charging. I got it home, and tested this morning. No charge at all according to the volt meter.

I replace the alternator. Now I have a p0073 code.

It is the air intake sensor. I can not clear it with the smarty. Seems awfully coincidental? I have looked at wiring and sprayed with cleaner.

Replace sensor?

Which Volt Meter, the one in the Truck?

You probably disconnected this sensor for replacement of the Alternator right?
The code will clear itself after a couple hot/cold cycles.

I didn't disconnect. It has been zip tied to my large excavator air cleaner for 7 years.

I had to move it around but that was it. Tried cleaning, etc. If I clear code with smarty it is back immediately.

Just strange that it could fail like that.

I checked voltage with a multimeter while running. After giving it time you can see it just continue to drop. After new one it is at 13.8 immediately after start. After 265k I am sure the brushes are gone.

Replaced sensor and code is gone. So bizzar that it failed upon just moving it.
