"B" Pillar Decal Peeling

The black decals between the front and rear windows on my '01 Ram are starting to peel off at the bottom. Has anyone replaced these?? Is it something that is a do it yourself type project?? Are the decals available from other than the Dealer??

I think that is called the 'B' piller, 'A' piller is by the windshield. Mine is doing the same thing, touchless car washes are blowing it off. Looks like the black is being removed but the sticky stuff remains. I have been considering trying the remove it with a heat gun and then tape and paint.

you can get them at Dodge it not that bad Did mine. I think it was like 40. 00 for one not shore price is right it bin a long time.

Thanks JLandry , Just what I needed also. Anyone know what to use to remove the old sticky stuff?
I think I'd try the following in this order:

Alcohol (methanol)

Mineral spirits

Acetone

Any of these are available at your favorite hardware store.

If you need to try acetone, test it first in an inconspicuous location (somewhere under the hood) to make sure it won't quickly dissolve the paint.

Lacquer thinner would likely work quite well at dissolving the adhesive, but it could also be very hard on the paint.

Thanks for the info, everyone. Friend of mine who works in a Peterbilt body shop told me there is a product available for removing this type of adhesive... he's going to get me some more info. I'm hoping that he will offer to let me pull it in next to the "Big Trucks" and give me a hand with the replacement... ... ...

Use 3M adhesive remover (Red and White Quart Can) available from NAPA stores Just be careful with it - - I tape below where the decal is to keep the juice from running down the body - - use it to soften the adhesive, then clean up the whole area of the decal - - you can use a heat gun to soften the decal and remeove it, but the glue is still there - - I like to use a piece of bath towel or a Dobie pad with the adhesive remover - - gets it off real quick and cleans the area up real well

Cost is about $37 each at Mopar Parts America.

Thanks John, I needed that, too. I had problems with the Mopar Parts America website and it crashed when I placed the order. I don't know if it went through or not, so I'll have to wait to see if my card was charged.

Also, they only ship FedEx, which is both expensive and not very good in my town (they won't leave stuff @ my door and I have to be at work during the week).

I use a hair dryer (a heat gun will melt a plastic decal) to soften the glue and Goo Gone to remove the glue. If the glue has hardened then Xylene (a paint solvent) will soften the glue but be careful around plastic and rubber. The Xylene should be fine on automotive paint but test it first.
