Hey guys, i bought a pillar pod from geno's, its an autometer one made for the 86-93 trucks but it doesnt fit on my A pillar very well at all. are these made for trucks that have plastic over their pillars? what should i do?

It fastens to the plastic. Mine was a tad narrow but when held tight to the plastic like it is when fastened down tight, it fit nearly perfectly and I'm very difficult to please.

Mine is Autometer. Don't know if the invoice I have from PDR will have the autometer PN.

Please... ... what is a base model like? No power windows/locks/exterior trim/two-tone paint/LE badge/tilt wheel/a-c system etc. etc. etc. etc. ??????

Both my trucks are LE and seem fancy to some but I'm not around too may 1st gen rigs that are not LE versions

Ole Greenleaf jeez... .

Okish, you need to go to some junkyards and find that plastic piece that fits that apillar. My 89 is the same way, no trim. Went to the junkyard and bought just that piece for the pod, works good.

Bill,

I never noticed the lack-of when I drove your truck. I was concerned about the VE operation I suppose. I think it was dark

Yeah, get the trim piece. I used a rat tail file to "fine tune" my Geno's dual pod before installation. Drill the hole in your trim piece carefully!!! Use a hole saw or dremel stone so as not to crack the trim in half. Also, my dual pod fit nice and tight at first, but after a few removals the grommets have gotten kinda loose…LOL BTW, Greenleaf, Stomp's truck is a base model: no tailgate trim either…

thanks guys, ill try to call a few junkyards around here. i havent found any in nw indiana that has any 86-93 trucks.

Yeah it is a base model no trim on the tailgate, but I do have the trim on the inside. I also have A/C. :D Not that I ever use it here on the West Coast, but I do have it.

Sri Ram- You can buy new grommets at Napa/Kragen etc/etc. Usually they come in packages of 5+. There pretty cheap too.

Note where Bill's gauges are reading when he took his picture. Is that SAFE??!!!!

Geno's has the pillar mounts, as does Diesel Injection Service www.dieselpage.com

I believe the p-n is 15198 for the dual mount.

:-laf I have another similar shot in my bgilbert's trucks gallery, showing these three gauges and the speedo ~74mph IIRC. I plan to sit jumpseat on the dyno at IRP to snap a few shots of the gauges, see if I can capture a 4,000 rpm, 50psi boost, 1500*pyro, speedo needle bouncing off the stop reading  :-laf :-laf .

Yeah, I did the tripple too. Other than a slight bit of fileing, it installed perfectly. Also, they can be order for half the price of other places from Summit Racing.
