2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 'A' Pillar help?

Ordering my guages today, (Hewitt), for my '95 2500, but pulled off the orig 'A' pillar to get paint mixed/matched, (Found a place finally), I notice that it has a little strip of material going down the side for covering the welting, down the door post along the side of the dash untill where it meets the toe kick panel vertical extension. That little (extension) strip doesn't exist on the new 'A' pillar guage mount. What do I do? Cut off the piece from the orig and just stick it on the welting w/ some glue?. . Prob just answered my own question, I just never read anywhere about this little dilema. Thanks. . JohnG
