I was looking at a pillar guage mounts for the crew, and I noticed they have the pods for 86 to 93. Is there a differance between the 81 to 85 and the 86 to 93 A pillar? To me comparing both of mine they look the same. Am I missing somthing?

Robert

My 78 looks to be the same. I have a spare 2 gauge pillar out in the garage, I'll see if it will work on my 85 crew. If you don't have the interior plastic trim, you'll have to obtain at least the piece that covers the driver side a-pillar. This is what I had to do to my 89. The pod is molded to fit the trim piece not the metal pillar. Hope that is clear.

Gotchya. It is molded to the trim piece. If you could check on your crew that would be much appreciated. It would be a pain to get it and not work. Been there done that, don't want to go there again.

Don, if Robert doesn't want the driver side apillar trim piece, I'll take it. They can be painted. Robert, I haven't looked at my 85, but the cabs HAVE to be the same. You'll need that trim piece if you want an apillar gauge pod. Edit: Don you gonna use those 6" rear spring blocks from your parts rig? :) ;)

Ahhhh. Trim. Good question. :D I have none in the crew. :( There is no trim at all. Bare metal everywhere. :( What I need is everything :D Oo. , as I am going to get a headliner and all in there in the next few weeks Oo. . What is the scoop with your parts truck. Gathering by your offer of trim pieces (plural) you don't need them or..... ? The reason I am asking is if you need most of it and are only parting with a few pieces, then Bill can go ahead as I will need to locate all of the pieces anyways, so I may as-well help him out. I am also curious if you are getting rid of them what is the condition of them. Cracks, fractures, bullit holes ;) :D etc. Thanks.

Robert

P. S. Feel free to PM me if you need to.

My '84 crew cab is probably the same as yours-all bare steel everywhere. I like the simplicity of that, but it does echo a bit. I'd like to know more about how you plan to install a headliner.

All the plastic trim in the parts truck is good. It is a club cab. Do you think that will work for your purposes?

Well Don, that is a very good question. One that I have not figgured out 100% yet. But from where I am I will get all the trim from a club, then next time I see a ramcharger I will do some lookin and see if I will be able to use any of the parts from a Ramcharger. 2nd option is a Ford crew headliner and some trim if need be. I may be able to splice two club sections together(the ones over the doors) and see if it will do. The cabs are the same except the extra door length so we will see. All that is plan A and B. I have yet to come up with plan C  ;) :D .

Am I correct on thinking that you could never order a furnished crew from the factory? Meaning the A pillar to C pillar over doors trim is not even in existance?

I am going to make a few calls tonight to see if all this will work (including wether or not your club trim will work) and I will get back to you'all tomorow.

Robert

P. S. Don, do you have any pics of your truck. I would love to see them.
