A question for the administrators

I'm curious why all the topics are not included in the "new posts since you were here" link on the homepage? It seems to me if it was posted it should show reguardless of where. Is there a reason why the "other" and "political" categories (and perhaps others I'm unaware of) do not show up there? Thanks.

I believe this is due to the fact that not everyone wants to check out the posts in the Other and Political forums. There were some objections to the content in the Other forum in the past, so it doesn't come up in the normal "View New Posts" search. This way if you want to see it, you go to the forum. If not, don't go in there.

That's correct. The other forum posts were taken out of the view new posts feature due to users requests. The political forum grew out of the other forum so the same applies.

If it was done at the users request than I'm fine with it. Gotta be a team player. Thanks for the info.

As I recall, post count for those forums are also not included/incremented for individual members - some guys spend all their time over there, (much of it simply raising hell... ) and while they can be interesting threads, do little to improve diesel-related subjects, which is the main focus of this board.

Posts in the Other forum (and I assume the Political forum as well) don't count toward your post count, to prevent padding your count with useless posts.
