My brother is currently running an Edge Pulse box, he is selling it to go to a Blue Chip FMS. He currently has a boost elbow on the turbo, and I know it will hit 30 psi at least, cause his guage pegs out at 30 psi. MY question is, when he gets the Blue Box installed, can we plug the line completely without setting off a code?? Because he is selling the elbow with the chip, and we figured we would just shut the wastegate completely, like mine is. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Willie

That will likely over speed your turbo sending it off its effective map. Over 35 psi and you are pumping hot air which is a waste of energy and hinders performance.

Disabling the wastegate is not a good idea. It is there for a reason which is keeping the turbo efficient as stated above. Lots of guys do it, and lots of guys are running more boost than they need and a few are running more than is reasonable. Too much boost is real, and hinders performance.

Once you exceed the efficiency range of the turbo, not only do you hinder performance, but you wear out the turbo faster. Pressure is only relevant to physical volume of air transferred. A larger turbo i. e. : a HX50 will move a larger amount of air at a lower pressure than an HX35. If you are moving more air, you can add more fuel and still get less smoke. Remember Fuel + Air = Power :D . Plus, lower pressure = less fatigue on all parts of the engine.

If you just want to bypass your MAP sensor, just get a potentiomometer(sp?) (Volume control) from radio shack and put it in line between the MAP and the ECM. Turn the volume down and the computer will see lower numbers from the MAP. This is the shade(y) tree mechanic way of doing this, but it works Oo.
