Anyone use these automated biodiesel makers?

If you're interested in bio-diesel, check this short film out:

From the Fry Daddy to your Car.

It's about a bass player who makes his own bio-diesel. Good editing and lot's of rock & roll music behind it, plus he goes through the process of making the fuel. I'd never seen bio-diesel made before, so I found it interesting. But when he whipped out this container of Lewis Red Devil Lye I excpected the Sheriff to come busting in and start tossing the place. Texas used to be known for speed labs, and those containers were usually found in the raids. This guy's back yard reminded me of a speed lab. Even though I found it interesting, I'm still luke warm on the bio-diesel. I like the lubricity part, but not the loss in combustive power.

Crunch,

The main difference with bio is the btu per gal. Diesel has around 130,000 btu/gal and for example B100 soy based has 118,000 btu/gal. You are correct about the lubricity which is nearly twice that of diesel and a higher cetane rating.

I see you are in Ft Worth, do you know about DFW Biodiesel off of Long Ave? They have B5 ( used to be B20 and will be again soon ) and B100 at the pump, give it a try. For the past 5 years I have run B20 from around Nov till April then I switch to B100 as long as night time temps stay above 40*.

I have not noticed any drop or loss ( or whatever some folks call it ) in power. My engine is quieter, smoother and nearly sounds like a 12v. Bio will clean your fuel system which is another benefit. I have a 13k 5er and the last three times I pulled it I noticed no difference in power, I was running B100 at the time.
