6 inchers too big??

3.73 or 4.10 for my trailer weight?

On either this or on another RVing forum I recently read about a cushion that sounds like it would be great for those of us with sciatica problems. But, I don't remember the name of the product and don't remember where I read about it. I do remember that it is not made specifically for use in vehicles, but was developed by a medical supply outfit for general use for seating comfort. It is a cushion that you would set on top of the regular seat. The person who posted the message said the advertising doesn't mention use in a vehicle, but that he (she?) thought of that use. He/she tried it in their truck and was very pleased. It is a little pricy, seems like it was around $150, but if it does the job it would be well worth the expense.

Does this ring a bell with any of you?

seat cushion

I read one talking about airhawk seat cushions. Started out as medical ones and are used a fair amount on motorcycles. Do a google search and you can get more info.

Thanks for your replies. I contacted ROHO and after talking to them I decided to order a 19"x19" Airhawk cushion. ROHO sells directly plus they said some truck accessories stores also sell their product. They said www.iowa80.com is one such store but that there are others, too. I just placed an order with iowa80. Cost was $160 plus $12 shipping. ROHO said to try it out for 60 days and if I'm not satisfied then send it back.

Thanks again for your assistance in locating the product for me.

Yes, please post with results/evaluation.

I have a TENS unit I use if I have to drive. Walking around with wires dangling from you isnt the thing to do these days.

I'm also very finicky about the seat adjustment.

I just hate when someone has to move your truck 5 feet, and HAS TO fiddle with the seat dajustments.

I bought my Air Hawk from I80 after reading about it in the latest Mag. I am very pleased. I use it in my Dodge and also in a big truck that I drive part time. I wish I had it last summer when I went to Alaska. Rob

Just got mine, but too early to tell how good the product is (although the quality seems to be very good). One complaint: the 19 x 19" seat with seat cover will not fit over my seat the way it was intended, so the whole assembly sits on top of my current seat. It works fine that way, but it was really meant to wrap around the seat, and attach using two supplied hooks/bungee cords.

I sat one while shareing driving when a buddy came to rescue me once. He not only saved me that time, but the Air Hawk cushion has been saving my back ever since. Never thought it, but a better seat cushion my back doesn't bother me near a much as it used to. When you're in the saddle all day everyday, it's worth it.

Just returned from a trip using my new Air Hawk. Before, I could only drive for about 1 1/2 hrs until my hip and knee would start to ache. Using the Air Hawk on this trip I had absolutely no problems. The first day out I drove for a little over 3 hrs without taking a stretch break, but even then my hip and knee felt fine.

A friend of ours, a nurse, noticed it and said something like "hey, you have an Air Hawk, don't you love it?". My reply was, "Oh, you recognize the brand?". She said, of course I recognize it, we see those cushions all the time with wheel-chair patients. " She said it is a very good product.

Sounded like a good recommendation to me.

I noticed that as we went from sea level (San Diego) to higher elevation (7,400 ft. at Grand Canyon) I was sitting higher and higher. Then I thought to let a little air out of the cushion. I pumped it back up upon our return to SD.

Has anyone had the same problem as me (with an inability to fit the Airhawk seat cover over thier current seat?) The seat cover supplied with the 19x19" cushion is too small to fit over the big cloth seat that I have (maybe it would have fit over a leather chair)

gbraden, Just a side note regarding sciatica, shoe orthodics count for a lot. Redwing shoe store carries a aftermarket line, SUPERFEET, www.superfeet.com. Been using them for several months now with great sucess. Keeping sciatica pain/inflamation in check requires many strategies. Guess I'll also check out the seat cushion since it seems to have worked so well for you. Jim.

Which Airhawk did you all purchase? I see on their website www.therohogroup.com that they offer the Airhawk and the Airhawk Pro. The pro is avail in 19 x 19 or 22 x 22 and is 225 dollars compared to 100 for the standard. Wonder if the additional 125 bucks would be worth it?? And do they help with the sciatica?

Buy the best and buy from iowa80.com. The price for the best one was about $170 from them. They were good people to deal with. Good luck. Rob

I got the Pro and from Iowa 80. It fit my 96 F350 better than the 99 Ram, but I make it work. Main problem with the Ram is the rear up/down motor went out, now I'm sorta sittin in a hole. Dealer won't sell just the motor, want to sell me the whole assembly. Seems somebody outta rebuild these things. But I haven't found anybody can get parts for them. Think I'm a candidate for an air ride seat.

Cheers,

The Airhawk seat pad is well worth the money. The only thing is I would recommend the 22X22 inch seat. The 19X19 won't fit the seat and is really just a little small for most of us, and I'm really not that big, 5' 11" and 190 lbs. The pad really is comfortable.

OTRPU, If it's just the seat motor any good electrical motor rewind shop should be able to rebuild it good as new. Jim.

Steve. . the issue is sometimes the plastic gear... IF memory serves me right there was a thread a while back where a guy was able to do a rebuild/repair. . anyway check it out as they were repairable even though the factory isn't a help. .
